Home Visit Information
Dr Elms continues to offer her at-home end-of-life services for euthanasia as well as for consultations/second opinions and nursing support.
Rabies vaccination boosters (3 year) are also available to all owners who are self quarantined.
These services are also offered at Dr Elms' home office on a very limited basis — please call or text for details (848-333-2211). Phone hours are 8 am to 9 pm most days. Text messages work best.
Dr Elms will do what is within her means to keep our Maine curve flattened and our pet owner families safe.
Apart from house calls and an occasional purchase, Dr Elms also remains isolated at home. Dr Elms will arrive with clean scrubs, mask, bonnet, and gloves.
Additional Measures For Home Visits:
Provide an isolated room (den, garage, breezeway, etc) where human passage has been minimal to none for the previous 24 hrs.
Ask Dr Elms for a mask and gloves.
Sedate your pet for the visit so that owner restraint is unnecessary or minimal. Please ask your regular vet about dispensing Trazadone/Alprazolam for dogs and GabaPentin for cats, the Fear Free pet anti-anxiety meds. Please call Dr Elms if you do not have a regular DVM.
Have children distracted by a new toy, etc.
Have disinfectants ready.
Prepare for a timely procedure and departure, saving the hugs for later.
Prompt home burial (if not cremated).
PayPal or checks to avoid handling of money. Use gloves with cash.
